The good news it that you can experience God’s unconditional love, overflowing joy and sustaining peace in your life today. The word gospel in the Bible means “good news “ or “good message”. Not only is the gospel of Jesus Christ good news, it is the greatest news of all and will give you an abundant new life!
So what is the message of the gospel?
The New Testament of the Bible was written in Greek. The term "euaggelion", Greek word for gospel, primarily refers to the "good news" or "gospel of Jesus Christ”. It encompasses the message of salvation, the kingdom of God, and the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is used to describe the proclamation of God's redemptive plan through Christ, offering forgiveness, grace, mercy and eternal life to all who believe.
The three steps of the accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior are to…
Confess that you are a sinner, that you have fallen short of God’s standard and need to receive forgiveness of your sin. Repent means to turn around. You can not just admit you are a sinner and then do nothing. You must be willing to turn from your sin to a new life in God, with Him as Lord of your life. Believe in the fact that you are a sinner and can not earn your salvation. Salvation is a gift from God and Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection provide victory over sin. Believe in this truth to receive Christ as your personal Savior and have eternal life with God.
There are lots of verses in the Bible that share the gospel of the Kingdom of God. The Roman’s Road is several verses from the book of Romans that take us through the steps of being saved from our sin and receiving the gift of eternal life with God.
All of us have sinned and the consequence of our sin is death.
God’s gift of salvation through Christ’s death and resurrection paying for the penalty of our sin. You cannot do anything to earn your salvation.
Accept God’s gift of salvation by believing in the gospel of Christ Jesus to save you from sin’s penalty.
The results of you receiving God’s gift of salvation is an eternal life with God and experiencing His love for you… forever.
Would you like to follow the Romans Road to salvation?
If so, here is prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you.
Only true faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation!
“Dear Father God, my heart is sick, with my sin and shame… and I need your forgiveness. I confess my sins and repent by turning to You as Lord of my life.
I believe in the sacrifice of Christ Jesus’s death on the cross as a payment for my sin and that his blood has covered my sins. His resurrection created victory over death and has given me a new life. Thank you God for your grace and mercy and I accept your gift of adoption and want to be your child. I want to call you Daddy and experience your love for the rest of my life.
And though I know that there are no good deeds, I can do to earn my way to salvation and a life in heaven after death, it is your gift. I promise to share the love you have given me, by keeping your commandments of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others and living according to your word.
Please Father God, let me experience your fullness of love in my life and share it with others. Thank you for your gift of love.
In Jesus‘ name I pray,
Amen!”

If you have true faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ… then you can be certain you will be forgiven of all your sin and spend an eternal life with God in heaven.
Assurance means freedom from doubt. By taking God’s Word to heart, you can have no doubt about the reality of your eternal salvation. Jesus Himself assures those who believe in Him:
Eternal life is just that—eternal. There is no one who can take Christ’s God-given gift of salvation away from you.
When you truly have complete faith that Christ’s death and resurrection have saved you from your sin and confessed your need for Him as Lord of your life… no one, not even yourself, can separate you from the salvation God has given you.
You can be confident that once God has saved you from your sin, adopted you as His child and made you joint heirs with Christ… you will never lose your salvation, because God is always true to His word.
However…
And, you could think that you lived a good life, according to the rules… but you will never reach perfection and you will never attain salvation on your own. Salvation from sin can never be earned.
Some will think they are saved… and when they get to heaven Christ will say to them “I never knew you”.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
—Matthew 7:21-23
So, if you want to be 100% confident you are truly a Christian… 100% saved, without a doubt in your mind… Then you must do the following:
Confess your sin, and mean it. Repent from your sin by turning from your evil and sinful acts and become renewed in your relationship with God by trusting in the saving work of Jesus’ death on the cross, burial and resurrection. And that Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection paid for the penalty of your sin.
Once truly saved, the Holy Spirit will enter into your spirit and your life will produce new fruit and you will begin to live with God as Lord of your life. Although good works are not able to earn you into heaven, good works and turning from your sin will be the evidence of true salvation.
Your love for God, once you are saved, will produce a strong desire in you to obey His commandments. You will never be able to be perfect until you enter heaven, but a true Christian will continual work to serve God.
Jesus taught regarding false prophets:
“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
—Matthew 7:16-20
The good fruit of your life will be the evidence that you are truly saved. A life of continuous rebellion against God, will show you are not saved.
Let’s look at Galatians 5 to understand the types of fruit Christian’s will produce.
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law…”
The fruit of a person living apart from God and His salvation.
“…Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
The fruit of a Christian… evidence the Holy Spirit is in you and that you are saved.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
—Galatians 5:16-26
You will not get saved and then the next day be a perfect human in all your actions. You will be forgiven of all your sin in the past and sin of your future. But living a life for God and producing the fruits of the Holy Spirit in your life will be a lifelong process of renewal and transformation.
As a Christian, live a life of love unto God through obedience to the Word of God, the Bible, and the good fruits of your life will be the evidence to yourself that you are 100% saved and this produces 100% confidence you will spend an eternity with God in heaven.
First, please do not reject God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection to pay for the penalty of your sin.
If you do reject God’s gift, the bad news is that you will pay the penalty of your own sin. And the payment for sin in your life is death. Not just physical death, but eternal death and separation from God. And, this eternal death will be spent burning in hell, the lake of fire. An everlasting fire and you’ll be forever alone.
“So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
—Matthew 13:49-50
“And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”
—Matthew 5:29-30
The other bad news is when you rebel against God and reject Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection to pay for your punishment, you will also forgo God’s blessing in this life. Unforgiven sin in your life will lead to brokenness while you are alive here on earth.
One of the blessings of accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is that you will also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, God Himself, and His power within you. Your life will be renewed and God will work in your life to mend the brokenness we all experience. You will experience true love in your life.
The good news, you do not need to continue down the bad news path. You can repent, and turn your life around. By confessing your sin and believing Jesus Christ paid the penalty of your sin, your relationship will be restored with God. You will receive eternal life filled with the joy of being with God and spending time with the angels and everyone who has accepted Christ as their personal Savior.
Forever… is a mighty long time! Choose the path of your life wisely.
Once you become a Christian, the next step is to proclaim to your friends, family, all those in your life and the world… that you are now a child of God and you now live to serve Him.
The first step of obedience is to be baptized. Baptism does not save you. You do not need to be baptized to be saved.
However, being baptized is a very important proclamation to everyone that you believe in the goods news of Jesus Christ. It lets people know you have confessed your sin, repented by turning from your sin and believe that Jesus Christ paid for the penalty of your sin through his death, burial and resurrection.
Immediately start spreading the gospel of the Jesus Christ to everyone in your life. Everyone in your life needs a right relationship with God, to receive Christ as their personal Savior and be saved from their sins. Spread the good news… shout it from the mountain top!
It is important to get to know God and deepen your relationship with Him by reading the Bible and praying daily. The more often you talk with God, the quicker your life will be restored and renewed.
Relationships with other Christians are crucial to your new life in Christ. God’s word tells us to begin to be discipled by a Godly Christian. This is a one on one relationship with a believer who can help you grow in your Christian life.
It is also important to attend a local, Bible believing church. It’s essential to worship God with your new brothers and sisters in Christ through song, teaching of God’s Word and celebrating Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection by remembering Him through communion.
Joining a weekly Bible study, with a small group of Christians will also help you as you begin your new life as a Christian. Studying the Bible together, praying for one another and being able to get the many questions you have a new believer answered are important to your spiritual growth.
The steps as a new believer are a lifelong journey…
The fruits of your life will demonstrate your new life as a Christian. The more you understand, experience and feel God’s love for you, the more you will love Him. And, the more you love Him the more you will tell others about the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Let God’s love within you overflow to all those in your life.
Example of the early church after the Apostle Peter preached the gospel.
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
—Acts 2:41-47
